Budget Cuts Update
More People Will Lose Services

The Governor has a revised House One budget, reducing budget line items
even lower than his original January submissions.
As was the case with his first budget, disability programs do not fare well.
In the first version of House One, over 11,000 people with disabilities were
slated to lose service. The Governor has now increased the number of people who
lose service to over 15,000 people.
Specific cuts details include:
  • 1,800 people losing Transportation services
  • 2,600 people losing Day/Employment services
  • 9,000 families losing Family Support/Respite services
  • 44 people losing their homes
  • 624 people losing Turning 22 services
  • 730 people losing Employment supports through the Mass. Rehab Commission

The Governor's underfunding of DDS programs continues to shock members
of the disability community who previously thought the Governor's priorities
included disability concerns.
Please write to the Governor today and ask to restore monies for services.
