Job Responsibilities for Life Skills

  • Support people in small groups to develop their skills in areas that are important to them: fine and gross motor, social, decision making, etc.
  • Provide opportunities for people to explore the community and promote community membership
  • Develop and teach therapeutic strategies
  • Enhance functional and quality of life skills
  • Expand cognitive achievements
  • Work with a team of professional consultants; (OT's, PT's, SLP's, nurses and psychologist)
  • Promote independence, choice and individual control

Qualifications

All positions require effective organizational, time management, judgment, advocacy, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication and writing skills.

Salary and Benefits for Direct Support Professionals

March 2010

Starting Salary is $22,837   Direct Care Positions increase to $29,814 after 4 years of service

  • Family-RSI pays 766.16/Employee pays 702.58
  Personal Time Off   20 days per year, plus 1 additional day for every year of service (up to 40 days)
  Holidays   15 paid holidays per year
  403b Retirement Plan   Employee is fully vested after 5 years. Riverside has historically matched up to 7% employee salary on average
  Term Life Insurance   $50,000 premium paid by Riverside, additional life insurance available
  Disability   Premiums for short term and long-term disability paid by Riverside
  Dental Plan   Available: Single-$26.87--Double-$50.66--Family-$87.19
  Education Benefits   Riverside also pays up to 90% of college courses if approved, and 100% of training if approved. Also, Tuition Remission Program for courses offered by State colleges and universities.
